There is a best kept secret app for texting that is quite impressive. As of this writing, I have been using it heavily for a day and  I am definitely impressed! I was hesitant because I didn’t see any reviews on the big sites: CNET,  MacWorld,etc.. but this app is really good. You can check your current version by going to Settings, then General. From there choose About, followed by Version on your iPhone or iPod Touch device.
